This is a video that I digitalised from a 300ft Pathéscope reel.
It is a film about the raid on Zeebrugge in 1918
The film recreates this event in a mixture of authentic WW I material including captured German film, drama and special effects using models.
This film is an episode from an series of dramatized war docu’s that was produced by a company called British Instructional Film .
The original title was “Zeebrugge” and it was first released in 1924
Selon Stephen del Roser:
One of the first Pathé-Baby films for home movie projectors issued in 1923, this may well have been filmed ten years earlier. Shows firefighters battling with no protective clothing to put out an oilwell using nothing but water.
